It’s time once again for the Gathering of the Guilds at the Oregon Convention Center. If you appreciate locally made hand-crafted artworks, this is a show not to be missed. There are 6 guilds participating, including over 350 Northwest artists working in a variety of mediums including Glass, Ceramics, Metal, Wood, Beads & Fabric. I will be participating in the Glass Gallery section along with others from the Oregon Glass Guild. While I won’t have a booth this year, I will have one of my sand carved & gilded tables on display in the pedestal area and I will be volunteering at the show in various capacities all three days, so if you happen to see me, please say hi.
Here are some pictures from Opening night of my joint show with Ron Bunch at the Chessman Gallery in Lincoln City. I was really pleased with the way that gallery director Krista Eddy coordinated the art and glass work. Ron’s paintings and my glass complemented each other well and Krista made the most of that with her arrangement.
There was a really good turnout for the opening and people were very interested in learning about how the glass was made. I brought along my digital tablet so I was able to show them pictures of the process, including some oh-wow time-lapse videos of what happens inside the kiln during a pattern bar melt or drop ring slump. There was even a sale that happened before the official opening, but even if that’s the only sale, I consider this to have been a very positive experience. If nothing else, I got to see my name painted on the wall and in lights on the sign out front .
I’m excited to announce that, along with painter Ron Bunch, I’ve been invited to participate in a month-long show at the Chessman Gallery in the Lincoln City Cultural Center in Lincoln City Oregon.
I will have lots of new work at this show, featuring examples of my Radiant, Reflections and Painterly series. If you have an opportunity to come by during the Friday, February 10th artist’s reception from 5pm to 7pm, I would love to meet you.
