This platter was created by first making a glass panel that consisted of many, very thin layers of Brown, Yellow, French Vanilla and White glass. I sandblasted the panel to expose inner layers, much as wind and water would erode a sandstone landscape. The eroded panels were then cut to shape and formed into a circle. I filled in the areas between the eroded land masses with transparent Blue glass to complete a watery landscape. When lit from above, the transparent Blue water area creates a lovely shadow.
This platter can be used functionally or simply placed in a stand to be admired.
